Is my quote fair?
There is rarely one “correct” price for a trade job. The useful question is whether the quote covers the right scope, makes the assumptions clear and can be compared like-for-like with another offer.
Quote-check guides
Each page focuses on the items that most often make two quotes look different.
Is my roofing quote fair?
There is no single fair roofing price without the scope. A useful quote should explain what is being repaired, the materials, access or scaffolding, waste removal, VAT position and what happens if extra damage is uncovered.

Is my plumbing quote fair?
A fair plumbing quote should make the labour, parts and scope understandable. For fault-finding jobs, it should also be clear whether the first visit is diagnostic only and how additional work will be authorised.

Is my electrician quote fair?
A useful electrical quote should state the circuits or points covered, equipment specification, testing/certification, making good and any exclusions. A cheaper quote is not equivalent if it leaves those items out.

Is my bathroom quote fair?
A fair comparison starts with a complete scope. Check who supplies the suite and tiles, whether removal is included, whether plumbing is moving, how waterproofing is handled and who is responsible for electrical and finishing work.

Is my builder quote fair?
A fair building quote should define what is included, what is excluded, the materials or specification being priced and how variations will be agreed. If two quotes are based on different scopes, their totals are not directly comparable.
